There really isn't much in here that isn't obvious to a moderately experienced woodworker. There aren't any plans, per se, so you'll hafta make decisions regarding the how big/small to make things. One thing I hoped to find was suggestions on how to get angles dead on. For example, there is a jig for cutting miters and you'll want that to cut at exactly 45 degrees. I've built one of those jigs before and it's easy to err and have the jig at 45.1 degrees. I guess it's nice to have on the shelf but I wouldn't rush out to buy one.

Sandor Nagyszalanczy has just added another excellent book to his growing and versatile collection of woodworking guides.The organization of his Jigs and Fixtures book is first rate,logical and easy to follow.It starts out with a short section on how to use the book and then follows with sections organized in a very useable way.Safety notes are interspersed throughtout and are appropriate for novice and professional woodworkers alike.I have several other jigs and fixtures books which are generally boring to read and used only to look up a specific jig. However,this is not true for Mr.Nagyszalanczy most readable and informative works which I enjoy cover to cover. I have another of his books on built-ins which is also great, and have preordered his new shop organization book.He is a frequent visitor on DIY Network's "Tools and Techniques" hosted by Popular Woodworking's David Thiel . He is as enjoyable to watch and listen to as his books are to read.I rate this book at 5 stars and my only minor critique is that the many color photos, while excellent and instructional, tend to be a bit smaller than my 64 year old eyes like to see, but that's not a big deal.As an aside,most Taunton Press woodworking guides,of which I have many,are typically of very high quality. Good book for jig ideas, but I was hoping for some more detailed plans that what is written in the book. Something as simple as a cross cut sled is not described in great detail.

Nice buy. Fast delivery. I used it for one jig that I've made before. It is handy for some others too.

This is a great book, more for referee and ideas, im not a beginner with this stuff,but every once in a while this book (and all of taunton's books I've purchased) gives you little AHA! Moments.

Product received on time and as described. Taunton does it so well.

This book covers a lot of jigs. What it doesn't do is supply enough detail on how to make them. Each jig is supplied with a few photos and a pretty high-level description of how to make it. Very low on details, and I'd have appreciated more photos - especially of in-progress builds of each.

Ill have to admit, i went into this book with a pessimistic attitude based on all the information put out there by some of the MM, the Dick Grobs, Priscilla Beaulieu, the Shirley Dieus and Linda Thompsons brother/one of elvis body guard. After reading it, i was forced to look at the whole picture and started discovering MANY lies and inconsistencies being told about Elvis & Ginger. Its really disturbing the lengths they go to discredit this relationship.As for the book itself, it was quite refreshing to not have to read yet anothee book filled with snarkyness towards others. Ginger was very professional and stuck with facts, leaving any hate filled inuendos out if it. A certain MMPrincesswannabe could take lessons from Ginger Alden!!Hopefully Ms Alden will write another book! Only this time tell ALL the dirty little secrets about those around Elvis that shes been holding on to all these years 😁

The book is enjoyable reading. Some new insights into Ginger and Elvis' relationship. We'll never know if Elvis was really going to marry Ginger or not. There's ample evidence in the book that Ginger believed they were getting married; but, not sure if Elvis was committed to marrying again. Ginger treats Elvis with respect; and, is honest about their life together.

Ginger Alden is a lovely Southern gal, and her book about Elvis is not a shocking expose nor does she harbor any ill feelings towards his exes or entourage. She just explains the good parts about her life with Elvis, his charm, thoughtful ways toward her, his generosity to herself and her family, and little tidbits about his personal habits that are endearing rather than embarrassing. I found it a pleasant read, and thought what a nice person she was, and that Elvis appeared to be happy in his personal life with her at the end, although he could not conquer his own demons that led to his tragic demise. She is very discreet about what happened when she found him unconscious in his bathroom, only that she called others to help, and tried to stay in the background during the later hysteria. Those who write mean things about this woman have loyalty to his ex wife and daughter, but she smears neither one in this book, and just offers her own personal compassionate portrayal of the man she loved

I'd seen some Youtube interviews with Ginger Alden and had no reason to distrust her version of events when beginning her memoir. Unfortunately for her, I did pick her book up just after reading Linda Thompson's own memoir, which includes her time with Elvis. There could not be a bigger difference between two memoirs.Linda is a talented writer and a deeply kind, intelligent, generous person. She is gracious about and appreciative of every person who has crossed her path in life. Yet, she's honest. She has a way of telling the truth, and not whitewashing another person's weaknesses, without tearing that person down. (And, she had nothing negative to say about Priscilla or Ginger -- in fact, she notes the loving and loved role each had in Elvis' life.)Ginger, unfortunately, has none of Linda's gifts. As her book went on, and on, and on, she got in plenty of digs, mostly at Linda, some at Priscilla, and even one at Lisa (!!). She clearly feels (to this day) inferior to Linda. She took every chance she got to try to convince the world that Elvis loved HER (Ginger) more than Linda and that Linda (according to Ginger) did (supposedly) many crappy things, such as spend Elvis' money once they broke up, tell tabloids untruths about Elvis, etc. Ginger also got the dig in that Elvis broke up with Linda, not the other way around as Linda (and others in their circle) maintain.Ginger comes across as a big eyed, sweetly smiling, yet thoroughly catty, 8th grade girl. She also comes across as shallow and blah. Her book is a plodding account of every tiny thing she and Elvis did in their 9 months together. And almost none of those things are interesting to an outsider. Linda's book, on the other hand, gives a real peak into Elvis as a person. I came away from that memoir liking Elvis, despite his flaws, more than I already had. (As an aside, the thought crossed my mind several times that Elvis seemed to really take a shine to Ginger's sister Rosemary, and I wondered if he at times wished he'd selected Rosemary to date initially, instead of Ginger.)It was clear Ginger felt slighted at the funeral, by not being treated as the special person in Elvis' life that she was. It might be understandable that she (at 20 or 21, at the time) felt that way and was, immaturely, wrapped up in her own need to be recognized. It's pretty strange that the woman she is now (decades later) still has the EXACT same take she did at the time. She's not matured one bit.As other reviewers have noted, the fact that Ginger and her family sued Elvis' estate after his death is shocking. He had promised & planned to pay her mom's house off. It didn't happen before he died. He had given Ginger and her family members cars, furs, loads of highly expensive jewelry, etc. They could have sold some of it and easily made house payments. (Not to mention that, because her parents were getting divorced, Elvis had, before his death, paid Ginger's dad for his half of the equity in the house that Ginger's mother was going to keep.)Ginger comes across as someone who is soft spoken and gentle; yet, you just scratch the surface of that gentleness and what you get is a woman who is all about herself.

This is December 19th 2018 I just started Elvis and Ginger the first thing is that they could have tweaked it a little bit at the beginning of the whole book. For one thing my age people start decreasing with their eyes and can't see as well yes there's always magnifying glasses I wish they had bigger letters for this book I'm a big-time reader and I always gotten big print at my age well what I'm going to have to invest in is a magnifying glass with light in it but a free-standing one I don't like holding a book and a magnifying in the other hand beware the people at a older age be sure to have a magnifying glass. I will give you an update later on in this book no doubt it's going to be juicy

I enjoyed reading Ginger's side of the story and very glad I got to read the book. I had always read in those gossip magazines how she was after Elvis's money but in reading her story I can tell that was clearly the opposite. I always thought Ginger was beautiful( and still is) just like Priscilla was. I was really young when Elvis died but even as a young girl I loved Elvis and bought all the special collector magazine issues that came out. Ginger was so sincere and I am so glad she wrote the book. I couldn't put it down each night I kept on reading and reading.

This gets a decent review for me (I bought this to study for the TExES science exam) but there were some parts I wish it had. It didn't talk much about pendulums and the example problems are pretty limited. For example I did pretty well in college physics with three simple kinematic equations. After finishing the book I still needed to find those equations (such as v^2-v0^2 + 2ax) so someone who did have the experience I did wouldn't get as much out of this book. Overall if you're looking for a more theoretical understanding this book will be great. If you're looking to do some practice problems and learn how to calculate specific variables this is not the book for you.

I am *so* happy I found this book! It's everything you could possibly want: it explains the information in a clear, simple, concise manner without ever coming off as condescending. As an adult with a strong curiosity for science, I found this book to include all of the information I could have hoped for.I bought it expecting a simple "Physics for Dummies" type of approach, but what I found was a detailed breakdown of physics, chemistry, electricity, and a handful of other fascinating subjects that are all directly connected to Physics. I never expected a single book to cover all of those subjects, much less in such a way as to show you how they are all connected. It's really quite brilliant. My favorite part is that each section includes a "Prerequisites" list, which is just a list of other sections in the book you should read first. This makes it very easy to skip around to the subjects that you're interested in.Finally, the book is full of questions and self-tests. This isn't an academic book that just throws information at you non-stop. Each section tells you what you should expect to learn, includes questions throughout, and then finally ends with a self-exam.I wish every academic book was this amazing. I've read $150 textbooks that aren't as well-structured and effective as this little $11 Kindle book. So if you want to learn about Physics (and all of the disciplines directly related to Physics), then do yourself a favor and BUY THIS BOOK!!!

I have a degree in Chemical Engineering. But it's been 30 years since I graduated. So I picked up this book as a refresher. It was great. The book explains the basics of Physics in easy language and includes self-tests at the end of each chapter that really help the reader understand each topic. If you're a beginner, about to take a Physics course, or just wanting a refresher, this is an excellent book. A+++

I purchased this book for a high school junior taking AP Physics. The teacher told the class he would not lecture and that they would need to learn on their own and then come to class with questions which he would then answer, if able. We immediately began to search for a book that would break down the content in a way that one could learn on their own. This has been very helpful thus far. The chapters contain learning objects and quiz questions (answers provided).The book arrived in perfect condition. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase.

I tried to understand a few things on Wikipedia about laws of nature that use principles of physics; having never studied calculus or physics. I felt it was a false study , to be honest. After reading the first chapter , principles are put plainly in laymans term and math is explained. Now I can comprehend things like vectors, scalars, displacement, velocity, and speed, just from the first chapter. A very good book.

Extremely satisfied with this book. As a Sophomore in High School, I wanted to study physics outside of school for fun. I know little to nothing about the fundamentals and basics of physics. This book mainly teaches you the equations and scenarios that help you learn them. I am half way through and I am liking what I am learning and am looking forward to progressing.

I ordered this textbook for my son, who is home schooled. Both he and I had been struggling with physics using the online text and workbook. I found this one on Amazon, the price was right, so I tried it. BEST thing I've ever done!! It's very easy to understand and learn from. He enjoys it and finds it to be on his level. I highly recommend for fellow home schooling parents or for any one wanting to learn physics.

Purchased for my daughter who is a freshman in college for her Physic's I class. She did not take Physics in High School. She said this book was very helpful, is tracking what they are covering in her class and that she sees where it will also be helpful in Chemistry. This is why I bought the book. In reviews and the descriptions, it was being said that it tied other sciences in with it. So, since she is happy with it, and it is helping her, I give it a 5 star. That was the point of the purchase. Book arrived very quickly and was as described.

This book was written in 1979 (revised 1996), and it shows. Which is a shame because the prose is clear and lucid, and examples are fantastic, and the pacing of the material is excellent. This is a very well written book, which unfortunately spends way too much time talking about "miles per hour per second" and "pounds per square foot". A student's head will be so full of gobbly-goop that when the teacher talks about grams and meters and newtons, they will be frustrated and end up hating the class and the book.About 20% of the questions so far have SI units, so the book is not a total wash. It might be the best written physics text I've ever read, and it is nearly worthless. A real shame.
