I bought both the Fodor's and the Rick Steves' books, and both are helpful in different ways. I learned more history and background from Fodor's that helped us decide how to spend our time since we have a full week. It is quite complete and detailed. Yet I loved the travel tips and streetwise orientation provided by Rock Steves. Overall Fodor's is a great learning tool.

Excellent book! First time visiting Barcelona and this book was a must have. Managed to see all the highlights of the city in four days thanks to the advance planning we were able to do with this book.

Solid book. I love Rick Steves books but he tends to favor boutique hotels. Fodors uses larger hotels. All in all a solid book for Barcelona visitors. Wish it included more for those departing Barcelona on a cruise.

This book fills the bill as far as a serious visitor to the city is concerned.It is written with easy to follow guides,and makes itinerary programming simple and straightforward.The illustrations note all the main attractions for the city,as well the highlights of Catalonia and Bilbao are both instructive and easy to follow.It gives a comprehensive view of the city for both the entertainment and eating and entertainment needs.The suburbs are also covered,again in such a way that it would be interesting to track around them as a one or two day excursion.There is just so much to see and do here and this is one book that caters for both.

I haven't used Fodor's in the past and I won't buy another travel guide from them. The book is layed out pretty well but was not very useful. I didn't use it to pick out a hotel so I can't speak to that section but used it heavily to find places to eat. They list a piaya place and in the description say it has some of the best piaya in town. It was some of the worst I've ever had and was on of those super touristy restaurants. We also used the map to find a restaurant Pla (recommended by our hotel) and found that it was not on the exact street the restaurant is showed on the map. The map was missing many streets in the Bari Gothic area which made it very hard to navigate. It also listed the Picasso museum as at top 10 thing to do and we were extremely disappointed in it. That is not the fault of the book but I certainly wouldn't list it in the top 10. Overall I will go back to the Let's Go or other books in the future, they have much better food and attraction information.

The supposed authority on foreign travel; but current 2013 edition is already out-of-date. We visited Barcelona in Apriland many of the restaurants listed were either out of business or had moved locations,,,creating some hectic last-minute dinner plans. One night we ventured over to a 4-star recommended eatery, only to find the place shuttered behind a metal gate. The hotel listings are much more precise. Perhaps Barcelona has a very dynamic, active and ever-changing restaurant scene. We also wrote Fodor's pointing out our concerns.

It had been awhile since i bought a travel book as I was relying on the internet mostly. I found the fodor's book to be really useful. Surprisingly good restaurant reviews in Barcelona. I think this is absolutely worth buying if you head to Barcelona.

Haven’t used it yet so can’t rate it accurately but looks durable and wanted it detailed with sites and streetsSomeone else might find it too large to be practical to take

If you are a gardener, especially a Southern gardener, this book is for you and all your friends! This is the most charming book about an older Charleston gardener called Mrs. Whaley who talks about her life, grace in growing older, and maintaining her Charleston garden. My mom bought it for me, and we have both bought it many times over for our friends. Wonderful book to treat yourself or any good gardening friend!!

Having recently had the opportunity to tour Mrs. Whaley's real Charleston garden, I was most interested to read her book about the creation of the garden itself. The book was delightful. It made me wish I had had an opportunity to meet her and talk with her. She was apparently a spunky, confident Southern lady who was never intimidated by anyone! The book talks about the creation of her garden, which amazingly still looks much like what she describes in her book. But the book is more than the description of her garden--it also relates details about her life in Charleston and about her philosophy of life as well. This is a book well worth reading. It is one I will keep and read again.

I much enjoyed this book, the author's life, family history, and the joy gardening brought to her long life. I also enjoyed researching plants as I read. Her wonderful experience of community was a pleasure to read about and brought back warm memories of my own youth.

I have a few felting books, and this one is my favorite. What's so wonderful about it is this--several fiber artists contributed to the book so the book doesn't follow one person's style. The projects are varied and interesting and unique to each artist. They're also fun and doable and utilitarian (some). Great book--contemporary and relevant and, again, fun!

I read the great reviews of this book and actually looked at a few of the projects inside online. If I had the opportunity to see the real book I wouldn't have bought it. The projects are fairly basic and not very well done. The explanations and instructions are sketchy, at best and the little snippet about the "legend" of how felting came to be is nonsense.This is one of those books that was created to ride the popularity of felting and sell books, it is not well written or well thought out. It does not to bring anything new to the table or actually teach anything. The photos are nice but that is about it.Boo

Love the colors and step by step tutorials. I have made almost every single thing on here.

Not as informative as I had hoped it would be. Would not recommend if you are just getting your feet wet and do not know anything about working with felt, like myself!

The story starts out intriguing, then takes the reader on a rollercoaster of emotions........mainly frustration. First thing that bothered me was the heroine. She is really annoying. Tanya thinks someone in her peasant surroundings went to a lot of trouble to play a joke on her. She continued with that train of thought through the first half of the story. I know it's fantasy, but really??? Move on! She talks about how dangerous the woods are, then wanders out by herself to get hero's attention. Wow.....he should have left her with the wolves and bears! The development of their relationship was so slow. You'd think it was going to get going, but the whole "she is so strong because she is stubborn" thing was just not good. Stephon's character was interesting and story would have been much better if developed with a decent heroine who wasn't a selfish, not too bright lady. Disappointed a little on this one!!

First of all folks if you ever find a Johanna Lindsey story for $1.99 and you don't buy it you are not a romance reader not matter what you might think. This Ladies is the Queen of Romance.This story was again set here in America with a disposed Princess of Cardinia sent to America to avoid being killed as an infant during a blood fued of the royal houses. That alone should get your attention, but since it's a Lindsay tale that should confirm it.Love the entire tale although I thought she could have done with a little less in the way of escape and recapture of the princess. I thought Tanya (Titania) was a bit obtuse about her thinking otherwise it was a wonderful, wonderful story and I loved every minute of it. I especially loved the little servant who would not allow the prince to think he was marrying a whore. What a grand way to announce that little detail.Love it. Love it. Love it.You know what to do folks. BUY BUY BUY whenever and wherever no matter the price BUY when it's Johanna Lindsey doing the penning of the story.

I had been in need of a good book to read for months when I finally came across this beautiful book. I will not say give away many spoilers but the characters made me laugh, cry and rage. I have read just about every historical romance book there is. This has got to be in my top favorites list. Tanya and Stefan are both witty and charming and have a deep passion/love for one another. Tanya is a very strong character to whom I look up to. She is definitely not like other heroines who get stepped on repeatedly by the hero. Stefan was also a very very very very likable character-if ya know what I mean... anyways he is a dark hero who has a light inside him that makes me skim pages looking for it. However I would not advise you to skip pages! Loved it! 10/10

I'm definitely starting to notice that Lindsey's strategy for reeling in her readers is FRUSTRATING, PROLONGED COMMUNICATION ISSUES between her two main characters. That being said, it was far more pronounced in this book than any other book of hers that I have read.One thing that really bothered me was the fact that Tanya's transport to her rightful home on the thrown in Cardinia took up 50% of the book. It wasn't until this halfway marker that the men finally get her on the ship and she FINALLY starts believing this "fairy tale" of a story, that she truly is a princess. But before that, the characters and us, the readers, must endure a 220 page extravaganza of her stubbornly refusing to believe what they say, her consistently failed escape attempts, and the new title for her, "Princess," used so sarcastically by Stefan and his men. I swear, every page has a "That's too bad, Princess" OR "I'd like to see you try, Princess" or SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES! I was so done with it!As I said before, this novel is an excellent example of communication issues that can be present in male-female relationships. This is what happens when people aren't direct in what they say and what they mean. And of course, everything that Stefan says is misconstrued and misinterpreted by Tanya, and of course, everything Tanya says is misconstrued and misinterpreted by Stefan and all of the other guys. It's constant, and omnipresent, and does not go away. Not until the VERY END of the book, just before they're about to get married, do these two lovebirds sort out all their issues. So here I am, reading my heart away, dying, begging, praying that Lindsey will absolve my anxiety, and allow this couple some happiness for a few chapters before tearing it away from them. But alas, it was not to be. If this is Lindsey's strategy for reeling in her readers, then it's entirely effective. I was hooked, and I didn't stop reading until 1:30AM. And felt awake enough to write this review shortly afterward. But effective or not, it was maddening to go through and feel all of the frustration of having the main characters' understanding of one another be so far off for the entire novel. Maddening.Yet, I loved it. I hated it and I loved it. I would not read it again, I would not recommend it to someone else, but it certainly entertained me for the duration of the night. I couldn't put it down. I didn't like how obstinate Tanya was, but I loved Stefan's passion. I loved that he used this passion as a wild, wonderful outlet for his anger. I loved that his eyes glowed when he felt angry. But I did not love how predictable the passionate scenes became for Tanya, and it'd almost be as if she was saying, or maybe I was thinking, "Oh, his eyes are glowing, he's angry, here comes a whirlwind of passion and kissing and lovemaking. Right on cue."Don't read it. Or do read it. It depends on whether you like Lindsey's suck-you-in-and-grip-you-until-the-end-and-it's-1AM style.

Had to get this series for my kindle,I have it in paperback edition because I so thoroughly enjoyed it and wore out the pages from rereading them. So hopefully it will show you how much I enjoyed reading them. Everything from the main characters,supporting characters,snarky dialogues,dangers,surprises and steamy scenes gave me total enjoyment.I'm DEFINITELY RECOMMENDING THAT YOU HAVE THIS SERIES FOR YOURSELF AND ENJOY THE ENTERTAINING STORYLINES!!😍😍😍😍😍

Love this story about a loss princess who finds it hard to believe that someone cares about her from a cross the sea and took the time to find her and bring her back home....with a fight each step of the way!!! Love this tail!!!

Oh, this is not my first reading of this book. In fact, I only bought it because my paperback is too old - it was the first book I bought in my first trip abroad. I had great fun reading it, and I think it will always have a special place in my heart. How could it not? There is a prince, a princess, they fight, she is a survivor... Maybe it's dated, maybe princesses are outdated, I don't care. I think this is one of the finest books Ms. Lindsey has written, and she was a favorite of mine.

About the Author

Alden Solovy is a liturgist, author, journalist and teacher. He has written more than 600 pieces of new liturgy, offering a fresh new Jewish voice, challenging the boundaries between poetry, meditation, personal growth and prayer. His writing was transformed by multiple tragedies, marked in 2009 by the sudden death of his wife from catastrophic brain injury. Solovy's teaching spans from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Jerusalem to Limmud, UK, and synagogues throughout the U.S. The Jerusalem Post called his writing "soulful, meticulously crafted." Alden Solovy writes real prayers. When I use the word "real," I mean that he is baring his soul to God and helping us do so at the same time. There are prayers for the seasons and mediations throughout the day, but there are also prayers after a partner's infidelity or the suicide of a child. These are grown-up prayers for real life. And it focuses on the life of an American Jew: there are not only prayers for Shabbat and Rosh Hashanah but also prayers for MLK Day and Thanksgiving. Ultimately, permeating the volume is the theme of the title: gratitude. Solovy is a very talented writer, and you should buy this book.

This is a lovely book of prayers - prayer poetry actually. Wonderful resource for readings and prayer services. It is divided in sections by topics, so easy to browse, though it's not easy to categorize a prayer and many could be used for different occasions. A few of the prayers are specifically Jewish, while most are appropriate for a wider faith audience. My only negative, is that the prayers tend to be very long, and not so easy to share.
