About the Author
Greg Grant is a horticulturist with the Stephen F. Austin State University Pineywoods Native Plant Center in Nacogdoches. He previously held positions with the Texas Agricultural Extension Service, Louisiana State University, Lone Star Growers, San Antonio Botanical Garden, and Mercer Arboretum. He is a regular contributor to "Texas Gardener," "Neil Sperry's Gardens," and "Ornamental Outlook m"agazines and co-author of "The Southern Heirloom Garden,." This book is short, sweet, and informative. With it being January, I haven't put some of the information to use yet but for someone like me, who knows virtually nothing about lawn care, this book seems like a great little guide.
I have to admit that I chose my grass before reading the book. However this book is going to help me justify and keep my choice.There are plenty of books out there with theories and pretty pictures out there worthy of any coffy table. Well this book also has pretty pictures but also practical charts on watering feeding and pest control. So far I have failed to control my pesky cats (oh pests.) But all the others pests are under control.I am still learning the ins and outs of Texas lawns. But with horticulturist Steve Dobbs' book in hand I will triumph.
