About the Author
Rueben P. Job was a United Methodist bishop, pastor and acclaimed author and served as World Editor of The Upper Room publishing program. Best-known for the classic book, Three Simple Rules: A Wesleyan Way of Living, he also authored or co-authored A Guide to Prayer for Ministers and Other Servants, A Wesleyan Spiritual Reader, Living Fully, Dying Well, Listen, and co-edited Finding Our Way: Love and Law in The United Methodist Church. Studying this book in Sunday School class; ideas presented by 18th century minister, John Wesley, interpreted into modern day living by author, Reuben Job. The book suggests ways we can relate to our friends, families, coworkers and strangers in our contemporary world. Excellent, short read and highly recommended for group study.
I found this book to focus on the importance and biblical foundations of the three rules of the Wesleyan tradition. This book blessed me in a time I needed to learn what was offered in its pages. A simple but challenging call to follow Jesus more intentionally
Don't let the "Wesleyen Way of Living" part of the title throw you. This little book has application for all Christians. I was raised in the Methodist faith from age 4 to age 19, so I knew who John Wesley was, but not knowing who Wesley was or not being raised in a Methodist church would in no way limit the usefulness and/or impact of this book in any believers life. In fact, I am now the pastor in a non-denominational Protestant church and recently used this book as the basis for a three part sermon series. The three simple rules found in this book (Do no harm, Do good, Love God) are a powerful reminder to the experienced follower of Christ, a succinct distillation of Gospel truth for the new believer/young Christian and an attidote to the intellectual/ivory tower tripe and the "power" gospel that seems so pervasive in what passes for so called Christian literature and preaching/teaching today. This is a simple "life application" book that will benefit all who read it.

Overall good book, especially for one who is interested in understanding the philosophy of John Wesley. I would recommend it to anyone who is, or is interested in becoming a United Methodist. Essentially in a short book explains the church's philosophy.
